Im Rahmen des „FilmMittwoch im Ersten“ können sich die Zuschauer und Zuschauerinnen wieder auf Spannung pur freuen: Der Sender zeigt am 8. Januar 2025 den Thriller „Helix“. Dieser basiert auf dem gleichnamigen Roman des Bestseller-Autors Marc Elsberg.
It’s about the desperate struggle of BKA bodyguard Helen Schilling, who gets caught up in a highly explosive plot because of the sudden death of the controversial economics and environment minister. She also struggles privately to fulfill her desire to have children.

As part of “FilmMittwoch im Erste”, the station shows the approximately 90-minute film “Helix”. 8 January 2025 to Primetime a 20:15 Uhr. The thriller will then be repeated at 12:15 a.m.

This is the plot of “Helix”
Helen Schilling works as a bodyguard at the BKA and is responsible for the safety of the controversial Minister for Economic Affairs and the Environment, Richard Bauer, during a press event.
When he suddenly suffers a seizure and dies, it quickly becomes clear that his death was not a natural one. During the course of the investigation, Helen gets caught up in a dangerous plot, which opens up a war for the supremacy of future genetic research and its ethical limits.
In addition, Helen is also under pressure in her private life: she and her younger sister Paula suffer from a genetic, fatal disease. In order to realize her longing for a healthy child, she decides to undergo illegal germline therapy abroad.
Her husband Cem was surprised to receive this offer from the internationally recognized expert in gene optimization, Dr. Wöllner, received – it almost seems too good to be true. Soon afterwards, however, events escalate. Who is using Helen as part of an elaborate plan?
